THIS STORY:
In West Virginia folklore, the Mothman is a humanoid creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area from November 15, 1966, to December 15, 1967. The first newspaper report was published in the Point Pleasant Register, dated November 16, 1966, titled “Couples See Man-Sized Bird … Creature … Something”.
The national press soon picked up the reports and helped spread the story across the United States.

They were Hummingbird Moths, Hemaris diffinis.
I take my dog out for a walk (Noah is a European Doberman, so I am safe) usually around 2pm in the summer. I watched the Moth Man movie one evening and after that I was scared all summer long, scared I would see the Moth Man. ha ha Mister Moth Man must feel bad knowing when people see him, they think he is so scarry the run with fright like Casper the Friendly Ghost. There are probably some liars in that town but for the entire town to lie, I don't think so. I wonder where the Moth Man is now.

I have to say how creepy it was to find the moths as you were talking about the Moth man. I was like a scene from a movie as if it where the layer of Moth man.
Maybe the chemicals surrounding the area is so toxic there’s mutant moths. 😮

I lived in point pleasant from 2005 to 2018.i still live in the area. I live about 10 miles from point pleasant on the Ohio side. I can't remember exactly what year they built the bridge going over the kanawha river but it used to be a real sketchy bridge and the bottom was metal grating and you could look down and see the river.i remember going across it a bunch in the late 90s.the first igloo you went in I saw some of my friends graffiti.

I lived in this area my whole life and those BIG Cranes birds are around and there Hugh and when they fly off scare the heck out of you.

My Grandfather worked on the bridge. Decades later my Uncle, knew I'd found interest and my Grandfather was withholding. At 93 years old he already found any questions about anything a waste of time. Footnote * we are part Shawnee Native American and from what I gathered the Mothman was considered by us as a Thunderbird. No malicious intent yet size alone created fear. ❤
I went to the mothman festival with my daughter back in September, it was awesome!! We waited in a long line to get our picture with the mothman statue. I took a picture of my daughter touching it's but🤣 apparently that's a thing! LOL!! Several people were having their pictures taken touching moth man's but😂😂

Ron, I killed Mothman. I was lighting a cigarette, and he flew into the flame! So, no more Mothman. Also, no more Sasquatch. He was killed by Athlete's Foot!
