DARK GHOST METAMORPHOSIS – Evan Maddick and Milsong Wong
A dark ghost took control of an Ouija Board that allowed it to manifest. The ghost slowly took different forms. The forms became more real and complex until the dark ghost turned into a butterfly and flew away. We made this video because we wanted to test our live action stop motion and cartoon animation in a “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” inspired style. We also wanted to create a unique way to credit ourselves and promote a local business for our future work. Animating the dark ghost when it took the form of a giant caterpillar was the most memorable experience because it had to look like it’s whole body was moving. It took a long time to do it, but it was worth it for that fluid movement.

The video is a work of fiction for entertainment and not a political statement. It is a low budget passion project made for the joy of creation. It does reference Scream, Sales Man online memes, and parody elements.

We thank Imovie and Stop Motion App, for providing recording and editing software that we have used to create the video by applying skill and effort and incorporating other elements into them. We would like to thank Creative Impression and Jennifer Parsons for the Ouija Board and Planchette that we have altered by applying skill and effort and incorporating other elements such as movement into them. We paid for the Stop Motion App and Apple technology with our own money.

Disclaimer: We do not own Scream, Internet memes, or Princess Phones. In Canada, the Copyright Act, Bill C-11, the Copyright Modernization Act, passed parliament and received Royal Assent. Section 29 states, and I quote “fair dealing for the purpose of research, private study, education, parody or satire does not infringe copyright.” In the United States, Fair Use is a doctrine in the law allowing copyright work to be used without permission for parodies.
