You can tell that their stories are completely made up and in accordance with all the other ghost stories that have been out there since the 1940's. Much of the supposed curse attributed to the Poltergeist movie and its sequel has been definitively debunked over time. However, it never hurts a horror movie publicity-wise when there is a degree of art imitating life, the art on this occasion having more to do with artificial than artistry. Spielberg is a master of tales, and just let's say he has demonstrated that he never lets the facts get in the way of a good story, especially when it generates publicity.
