The Disturbing Case of the Tallman Haunting

In 1987, a quiet family in Horicon, Wisconsin, became the center of one of the most disturbing hauntings ever investigated.
It all began with a family moving into their dream home.
But what followed was a nightmare that would terrify the Tallman family for months… strange sounds, unexplained visions and a phenomena that threatened to drive the family crazy, until the haunting reached a violent and terrifying peak.

In this deep dive, The Tape Library explores the true story of the Tallman Family Haunting, a case that drew national media attention, appearing on Unsolved Mysteries and shocking people all across the country. But one that still very much remains a true paranormal mystery.

  1. Amityville Horror 2: Electric Boogaloo

In all seriousness, this story struck a deep note within me, and I genuinely don't know why. I LOVE horror movies/stories/ghost hunter videos.. but this story for some reason was almost.. difficult to make it all the way through. The vividity of the details in the story are so believable. For example: when the father recalled that the fridge being left ajar was strange due to the back legs of the fridge being damaged.. not many would think of such a minute detail to just "cook up" in a fabricated tale, and the accounts of everyone involved left no holes in which would come naturally to light when questioned. It's all too real to be just some publicity stunt.

I just found your channel, and just wanted to say thank you in advance for the next month (at least) of binge watching everything you have so far!

  2. I can't help but wonder if it's possible that the family were experiencing these things because of the decorating that they did for the home. Perhaps painting, redoing the floors, staining, things like that. The fact that only they have these experiences makes me think they were suffering from some kind of long-term inhalation poisoning induced hallucinations. Or maybe even some kind of hereditary allergic reaction. Just a thought.

  3. Sometimes I wonder whether ghosts get so bored they start playing pranks to deliberately scare people, playing on their beliefs and fears to get a rise out of them, I mean being dead and a ghost must be boring you’re there and you’re not, gotta keep entertained somehow

  4. Tallman honestly sounds like a pun name for torment, plus when they started describing the cats behaviour and how the dog would bark at night and other dogs would start barking at the house at night (dogs like to set each other off like that), AND with the fact that they just seem to say they saw the same things like a chain, the story isnt all that believable

  5. It sounds to me like the family was just experiencing normal, everyday occurrence. Any doctor will tell you not to visit multiple times in a week for the same symptoms unless they worsen. The mother was likely just being a Karen about her kids not immediately getting better. The kitten was just acting like all cats do – they evolved to hunt at night, so they are super active when we are normally sleeping. The father was probably just stressed from work IN A FACTORY. It being a factory town could also explain any respiratory illnesses. The simply were not used to the environment. No haunting here, just a family unable to adapt to their new life.

  6. This may mean nothing to some but I regularly listen to these while I’m working to pass the time. Today I listened to 3 different videos before this one and felt nothing as far as sickness or discomfort, but from the moment I clicked on this video, all the way to the end, I felt persistent nausea. It was almost unbearable until the video ended, only then, did my stomach stop hurting and I returned to feeling normal. I have listened to two more videos since and not felt anything unusual and thought it was only right to come back and comment my experience. Truly unnerving.

  7. The question on my mind is who was the family that came to own the Tallman’s house and what is their background? Going along the religious explanation, given how sinister this entity appears to be, observing and manipulating their fears and emotions to induce psychological breakdown, how did these next owners not experience any of it? What’s different about them from a religious angle? Personally, I am willing to believe that “evil spirits,” entities that are antagonistic towards the living for the simple fact that they are living and breathing and for its own sake, do in fact exist and we simply are either unaffected or not allowed to be affected unless “invited in.”

Another thing I want to know is if there is a strong EMF field around that specific property. A reoccurring theme in hauntings and paranormal activity are batteries being drained, electronics behaving irregularly, and sudden unexplained chills in rooms that were temperate mere seconds before. The theory I have from these common themes is that in order for a hostile entity to have energy/power to physically move something, it must drain or receive energy in the form of electromagnetic activity which also includes light itself, it being sometimes referred to as electromagnetic waves. The sudden draining of heat from the immediate area, in other words the disappearance of infrared light, is one example of energy stolen. However, in areas where strong static EMF fields constantly exist, paranormal activity seems almost guaranteed to go hand in hand with it, suggesting that hostile entities also receive from these sources of electromagnetic activity. Believe it or not, I don’t really care, but I am writing this to give an avenue for investigation.

  8. I first discovered this story in the late 80s on Unsolved Mysteries and found it very unsettling. Several years later a friend referred me to this case in the book Haunted America and it bothered me for days. This case would also make a great horror movie in the right hands.

  9. The eyes were very unusual! I've never in any case before or since heard of green eyes with red pupils. Maybe Mrs tallman said something to her kids about the green eyed monster, meaning envy or jealousy. And the entity responded this way as for the fire well, haunted houses tend to burn down a bit. But because of the men with guns in the dreams, I wonder if some kind of massacre didn't happen there

  10. I remember this case very well from unsolved mysteries I always thought it had to do with the bunk beds too. But apparently not. One similarity I do see is with the case of the black monk of pontefract, who was also a highly responsive entity who tended to do what people repeated in his hearing

  11. Your voice, presentation and the fact your videos are an hour long. New sub here. Your channel deserves more subs. Hoping to watch your channel grow. Great work and good luck.

  12. Horrible parenting by these two. How ignorant do you have to be that you are actively being haunted and you still decide to stay in the house, they had the ability to stay with family, which just adds salt to the wound.

  13. This case is very interesting. I watch a shit ton of your videos and others on hauntings and paranormal happenings and such, but this one actually hits close to home.
I feel like this was very similar to my childhood home.
Me and my family moved into a nicer home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. I wanted to have my bedroom upstairs, but I just couldn't sleep up there. I consistently felt like I was being watched in that house. My nightmares were far more intense and vivid, and would be even worse if I was either upstairs or in my actual bedroom. The upstairs felt more unsafe, and my bedroom was the furthest away from any exit to the house, so I only felt comfortable enough to sleep in the living room. There was always something walking around upstairs, something calling my brother's name in my voice, breathing heavily in my room, and even mimicked my sister at one point. My family and I would have insane nightmares about us being malicious to one another.
There was a morning where my mother was so spooked by the breathing in my room, that she had us all just hang out at my sister and I's school as she didn't feel safe leaving our younger brother home.
Anyways!!! all that to say, this video has made me feel a little seen and validated in my experiences in that house.
things have been better since I moved out of there!

  14. The amount of ads every few minutes on this channels videos has me wondering why they get so many views. How tf can this be a calming storytelling when you’re loudly interrupted by pairs of unskippable ads so frequently? Smh greedy af

  15. Finally a old shool tape libary episode wish made you the favorite channel of me my fiance my best friend his wife and my sister and her man . We always talk aboutnyour episode

  16. Remember just one thing: it's maniplative!!! It manipulate things & turn them into natural causes,no evidence etc .making or sounding like you have a mental problem now .they clever !! The same statement were made about the Lutz family aswell ,for money .but yeah ..

  17. This one will probably stick with me for a while, too. It's the eyes. For as long as I can remember, I've had an intense, irrational fear of seeing glowing, disembodied eyes in the dark. That image has always terrified me, but I've never actually seen such a thing… have I?

  18. I would like to hear more about the fae and their ways, tricks, and the subject. I have encountered fairies on and off throughout my life. And am curious if others have stories about these mystical creatures.
