On the morning of September 5, 1982, Johnny Gosch, vanished from his neighborhood in Des Moines.

What began as a routine newspaper route quickly became one of the most disturbing and controversial missing-child cases in American history.

Johnny was last seen delivering newspapers just after 6 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing a suspicious man speaking to him, and later, a vehicle slowly trailing the boy.

Johnny never returned home. In the decades since his disappearance, the case has taken a dark and complex turn. Law enforcement investigations, FBI involvement, and shifting theories have only deepened the mystery.

  1. Where I grew up, for awhile, signs were in windows with block letters, 'Block Parent'. They were trusted neighbors where you could go in case of an emergency. I too had a paper route from 12-19 years old. Delivered 3 times a week. The Sunday paper was delivered to me directly from the trucks. I alway delivered it at night on Saturday, generally after midnight. Getting up early was not my thing. I was a night hawk.

  2. During the early 70s kids weren't believed especially by law enforcement. Here in Spokane Washington during those times it's a dirty secret of a boy's home that lads who were arrested for things like shoplifting which poor boys during that time it was something that going to school made the rich kids mocking poor kids who couldn't ever have gotten those toys others had at school. Those boys homes was open for Washington State Police officers who abused those boys in Spokane areas. It's criminals teenagers against p3dofile police officers using their badge to protect their many crimes. George W and Democrats in Washington have worked overtime to protect those evil scummy liars.

British Columbia Canada was/is as bad, law enforcement up there is laughable at best.

  3. The 3rd boy was a paper boy as I remember, but he was not working at the time. From 86-89 there were also at least 5 additional kidnapping attempts in Des Moines that were investigated by police, all of them paperboys approached by men in cars.

  4. You'd think right when Johnny got kidnapped, they'd ask for anyone who knows or seen that car. Someone knows and seen that car before. The color isn't very popular

  5. It was so scary growing up in the 70s. I was a smart girl only because my family told me not to ever talk to strangers and I still don’t.And being a victim of SA I knew all about pedophiles.

  6. Also I bet you at least one of those sighting from around the country was truly
Him. I tend to believe the woman that said he approached her and tried to ask for help before being taken away

  7. It’s wild the kidnapper was bold enough to pull up and talk to Johnny in front of several other people without fear. Blows my mind and I desperately wish that man could have wrote down the license plate
