Opened in the 1840’s, this place housed over 1000 patients at it’s peak. People were subjected to tests and procedures that in our eyes today, would be seen as barbaric.
Many people lived a lonely and confused life here – like with most asylums throughout the world – and sadly for most of them, this is where their lives would end.
During the 1960’s, Denbigh should have closed down, but it carried on and stayed open until the laws changed dramatically in the early 1990’s, and this place closed it’s doors for good.
Sadly our visit was cut short by a guy who used to work as a caretaker here. He still stalks the grounds and tells people to move on. He must of been in a bad mood the day we went, because he followed us with his car and then drove at Dan ( Exploring With Fighters ) and almost ran him down.
He then later came at us with a shotgun… but you’ll have to wait for part 2 to see the rest of the story…

Everyone knows about Denbigh, most people have been here, and even if they haven’t, they’ve heard about the place.
For me, Josh, Steve, Neil and Steph, this was our first time visiting after wanting to come here for quite some time.

You should have just called the police on the old guy, he’d have been arrested locked up, and lost his fire arms certificate (if he had one) – it’s totally totally illegal to brandish a firearm in that situation !!

Helen Hollywood what happened to that crazy man with the gun did he get arrested because he tried to run our friend dan down with his vehicle did any one call the police on this guy he should of been locked up he was crazy he did not own that place you all was visiting you all was doing nothing wrong Helen please reply back with this answer I would Appreciate I really enjoyed this video of part two sorry if I reply so late but i was working on my video for my you tube channel nameless-t-shirtwear custom screen printing the video was about stencil film it was not to long of a video I was about some stencil film I used over the 16 yrs period as did my business. so thanks Helen Hollywood. and God Bless my friend.
I was trespassing 7 yrs old. Exploring I called it! I was shot at honest Abe in the land of Lincoln. First time held at gun point was by the state of Illinois highway patrol I was 5 yrs old. My sister was 2 yrs 10 months. They misidentified our family van as one that was identical. Be careful Helen you are too precious to be missed. Pack bear spray. :[)>

I had a run in with the old guy last time I was there threatened to smash my camera he actually lives just down the road as I was behind him in my car and saw him park on his drive crazy old man 😂
Great video Helen, but I think Dan should have let the crazy fool have an uppercut, after all you should be able to protect yourself from maniacs… he wasn’t an ex patient was he?
trouble with your cameras and battery's….that could be a sign of spirits trying to use the energy.👻 If anything is haunted I'd say a mental asylum would be the place…..
& i was just thinking i haven't heard anything about elwyn for a while & in your video he appears!

Great video. That old guy at the end was a complete nut! Dan should have kicked his ass. I can’t believe he came back with a gun. Sounds like he was looking for trouble. Be careful Helen! Can’t wait to see your next video. 😊

Quite the adventure! I had an incident like that recently…fixed his a$$ through the legal way and I won. He won’t be doing that again but at that moment it was very intense like yours. The sad thing is you don’t know how far people will go like that clown. Stay safe and thanks for sharing!
