This person's comment is 1000% correct. They explained it basically the same way in the show. Is like calling a lion evil for eating a gazelle. Yes, they have free will, but so what?? You can say that a lion or a wolf have free will, but their nature overpowers that in the pursuit of survival. In the same way, demons are wired in such a way that to them, killing other species is just a means of survival. Humans are their biggest threat; thus, they hunt and kill them. Never knew I'd try and play devils advocate to demons 😂
Imo, we haven't seen a demon yet isolated and raised by a human. With how that little girl demon was, she tried to "make amends by doing a evil deed." Of course it could or been a ploy to get away from that village, but it seemed honestly more confusion of doing something wrong then actually being evil.

The way i see it is the demons arnt actually evil, they are deceptive but they have to have an understanding of morality to be evil. They are just following their instincts and their instincts tell them to kill humans.

So having never seen it I felt I could be an objective opinion. If the story hasn't conveyed they are evil via their actions I'm assuming that the term demons refers to a race and not a group who all think in a similar way… so. Has the author ever been questioned and asked if they were an explicitly "evil" species? Then, whatever they said it is… it is. And if some people want to be demon rights activists or demon evil apologists it's fiction so, think about it however you want.

It’s simply their instincts, just like demons. Demons just are a little different, in the way that they understand many of the things, but they don’t understand empathy, they are simply unable to. And they rely on many of their instincts compared to humans. They might be just as clever or more as humans, but that doesn’t mean they are in the slightest, they are apex predators in human clothing
If demons are so far above the other races they would see themselves as good or at best neutral. Look at how we treat creatures that are beneath us…
