how does this build scale?
Man, I have struggled in poe2. SKILL ISSUE, I KNOW. Whatever, regardless, THIS BUILD, CHANGED THE GAME FOR ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can actually keep going now! That bad part, is glacial bolt is a lvl 22+ skill (uncut 7), so, I grenaded until I got it, now that i have it, damn! rockin!!
What are you using for clear before you unlock glacial bolt?

I'm just glad to see someone posting a different build than grenades man.. wasn't into it in D3, POE2's is more bearable but I'd rather the cool shotgun and rapid fire stuff (still haven't seen a build using those skills though)

Why Do we scale phys and not cold? And if we use 2 weapons, would we scale phys on one and cold on the other?
I feel just relying on spells to freeze instead of the bolt just so you don't have to waste tine switching your ammo type is simply better for KPM
I changed many skills ans support gems and finded almost the same build haha but instead of fragmentation rounds I using galvanic shots and a build around lightning. The lightning buff skill is great also.
Playing permafrost with fragmentation, it was pretty hard to get to act4 but since than build feels amazing due to availability of support gems. Flash granade is underrated with gas being hotty right now. Added leech support and conc effect on it, feels not worse than stun buildup support. Overall having a blast. Frost blast.

You can salvage slotted items too in order to build up artificer orbs and slot gear that you like. So always pick up any slotted gear for salvaging
Guy HUGE tip!!! Use 2 crossbows and set fragmentation rounds to weapon set 1 and glacial bolt to weapon set 2. Then set one crossbow shot to left click and the other to right click (don't set the skills, just crossbow shots as you will now have 2 for each crossbow). Also get the +50% weapon swap node and you'll clear way faster
Thanks for the insight on this build. I have been using this combo mostly. I have tried most of the other skills and they seem to fall flat in comparison other than grenades
Im running a very similar build, im currently trying to scale fragmentation rounds better, thinking of going crit. I use galvanic arrows for clear though.
My defenses are armor and evasion ofc, but i plan on dipping into life steal.
As i was falling asleep last night i thought about gemming in armor break to galvanic and the ability to pop armor break on fragmentation

I went with Merc Grenadier, after shortly dabbling in Act 1 with the Warrior, and it is a blast!!! Explosive Grenades and Gas, Oil and Flash bombing my way through all the enemies. Even after the nerf, it's still solid;) Gas bomb, explosive grenade and flash bomb, this 3-combo pretty much one taps all the mobs, if something is still alive I two tap them right away with the explosive shot and everything ignites again and is DEAAAAD.
I started with permafrost bolts and fragmentation rounds but once in the early Act 2 I started to transition into gas grenades, poison and fire works magic

Oh those two-hand nodes would be sick. I didn't even think about the fact that Xbow is 2h 😅 I think all of our damage kinda scales off of phys, too. I'm definitely getting those early on next playthrough.
i JUST decided to play the same build and mannn is it going easy. Wanting to do the gemlim accendesy but might switch off to suffer a bit more
Running 40 rarity and getting .1 rares per zone. Idk where you're getting rares in spades..
Cold melee feels so bad. 49 tries on ascendancy. Melee that isn't monk or big slam bonk feels awful
The ice walls don't appear to ricochet. I was testing it and you can only get ricochet when there's a valid target. That includes enemies and ice walls. I shot at the the ice walls a bunch, but it only seems to ricochet off map walls, and redirect to the ice walls to break the crystals.
How do you want test ascedance Passives, once they are taken, u cant swap relocate them never ever, can u? 😅
Great video and the build looks great! Quick question, do you know if the 35% damage boost from Ice bite gets cut in half for the Fragmentation Rounds because of the Lightning Infusion on it?
When not meeting other requirements, do you stack dex or str?
Everyone has been talking about grenades but I decided to play mercenary because the crossbow seemed (and is ) so fun to use ! i now enjoy using my witch hunter a lot more thanks ! keep updating it 😀
Initially I was gonna go with a Witch Hunter, but then decided I will go with Gemling Legionaire, just for the ability to double up on skill gems upgrades👌 the beauty of this game is that you can make many different builds.
Great video, I'm running a very similar build but with permafrost bolts (with glaciation and doublebarrel)
Once you freeze enemies, you one shot them with the Frag rounds with Leverage on them (leverage gives 50% extra change to Crit on immobilized/frozen targets)
EDIT: Also something important, in the skills menu you can click on the little triangle next to "DMG" and you can select which weapon you want to have access to which skill. This is great because I can use my secondary crossbow to freeze, then just hit mouse 1 and it switches to my frag rounds already loaded in my weapon 1 and fires it immediately instead of waiting until loading a bolt as you would if you are using both bolts from 1 weapon
hmm i had some hope that i found something new for my merc but i guess poison+explosive granade is still the way. Its omega op 5x stronger then this showcase but its not really my play style ;/ sadly im starting to think that poe2 right now have like 1 or 2 builds that are strong on each class and rest is just so much worse. Its early access so its fine but still little disappointed.
