CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Carl (Tony Goldwyn) dies escaping from Sam (Patrick Swayze) and is carried away by dark spirits.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
An interesting hybrid of popular film genres, Ghost showcases the talents of its entire cast. While out on the town one evening, New York couple Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) are confronted by a mugger. After submitting to his demands, Sam is murdered anyway. He then finds himself a disembodied spirit, invisible to the living world, wandering without hope until he finds a spiteful spirit aboard the subway (Vincent Schiavelli) who gives him some helpful pointers on how to co-exist. Soon Sam comes back into contact with those he knew in life, and he begins to learn piece-by-piece of his close friend and co-worker Carl’s (Tony Goldwyn) embezzling plot which caused his death; the apparent mugging was, in fact, a premeditated murder. In the meantime, Carl has designs on Molly, and Sam is determined to extract revenge. He contacts a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg), and together, the two set out to serve justice and stop the maniacal Carl from getting to Molly. Blending comedy, romance, action, and horror, Ghost was a box-office smash and managed to garner five Academy Award nominations, including “Best Picture,” “Best Supporting Actress” (Goldberg), “Best Original Screenplay,” “Best Editing,” and “Best Score”; Goldberg won her first Oscar.

  1. Don't feel sad for scumbags when they get taken to the hell they so desperately longed for in life. Besides, only a very few people are valuable. We can lose MANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Knowing the police were on their way after Molly called them to report Carl and what not, I often wonder what it would have been like after Sam's departure for them to show up to find Carl dead, having his body removed from Molly's apartment and assessing all the damage, etc. Whether there would have been an investigation, even. That kind of stuff!

Also, imagine how shocked the bank staff would be to not only discover Carl's death, but if even at all, how he was responsible for Sam's death and the money laundering scheme, etc.

Just imagine Lyle Ferguson's reaction in realizing that he had not only just wiped the blood clean off the bank's hands by closing a $4 million account full of illegally obtained drug money, but learning also that Carl was behind it all.

Plus that older bank colleague who was perplexed over Carl's sudden and abrupt reaction and asked him what was the matter. Imagine HIS reaction over realizing he had no idea that that closed account was also part of that same money laundering scheme of Carl's.

  3. Beware the Sluagh, these spirits are what take Carl away.

They are the horde of the wicked dead in Irish folklore. Sluagh have been denied rest and wander the globe looking for new souls to steal away to join their unholy cavalcade

  4. – NOTHING – a person could do in ~100 years on this planet could ever justify eternal punishment of any kind. I mean that. NOTHING. If you think it can, you haven't truly wrapped your mind around what eternal actually means. Endless TRILLIONS of years of punishment for actions taken in ~100 years on Earth? That is deranged psychopathy.

  5. They are not demons, but angels of death. Their appearance reflects your heart: if your heart is pure, the Angel of Death appears gentle and comforting; but if your heart is dark and full of hatred, he appears as the most terrifying vision you can imagine in your deepest nightmares. In Islam, it is said that the Angel of Death (Malak al-Maut) takes the soul by Allah’s command — peacefully for the righteous and painfully for the wicked.
