Alberta’s Secret Past: Pete investigates why Alberta changed her name from Esther Greene. Alberta eventually reveals a hidden truth: she didn’t “k*ll a man” as some suspected, but she did “mvrder” her ventriloquist dummy, Murray, with a baseball bat to end a failing vaudeville act and reinvent herself as a jazz singer.
Podcast Negotiations: When Todd threatens to use his “Todd Mob” of followers to tank reviews for the B&B and Jay’s restaurant, Alberta offers her real backstory as a bargaining chip. Sam agrees to let Todd reveal her secret on the podcast in exchange for fair promotion for both the book and the restaurant.
A Familiar Hat: The ghosts realize that the hat Alberta currently wears belonged to her ventriloquist dummy, Murray, making Thorfinn’s long-standing jokes about the hat being for “dummies” factually correct.
