FILM DESCRIPTION:
Sir Robert Beaumont (Tom Wilkinson) is behind schedule on a railroad in Africa. Enlisting noted engineer John Henry Patterson (Val Kilmer) to right the ship, Beaumont expects results. Everything seems great until the crew discovers the mutilated corpse of the project’s foreman (Henry Cele), seemingly killed by a lion. After several more attacks, Patterson calls in famed hunter Charles Remington (Michael Douglas), who has finally met his match in the bloodthirsty lions.

I know that there has been a lot of debate about the Tsavo lions, and there are theorists who believe it was all a myth created to cover an actual massacre, because the real lions looked nothing like the magnificent beasts in this movie. I think this may be why the critics low rated it. But I think this movie deserved to win Oscars in so many categories. The cinematography is exquisite, the sound and soundtrack are perfect, and the effects hold up well to this very day. It's a brilliant film that I can watch multiple times.
