  1. Costello on this song: "Visit St. Petersburg to view art collection looted by Red Army in last days of Second World War and kept in a secret vault until current exhibition. Every incident in "MY DARK LIFE" occurs during that short trip. Track recorded in London for album Songs In The Key of X in one furious fourteen hour session with Brian Eno. I play piano, guitar and bass while Brian works gadgets and makes ample use of tape machine erase button."

I've been around the world the equivalent of 16 times and nothing described ever better that particular fatigue…
    Magnificent song!

  3. And you think you're a guest, you're a tourist at best 🖤🖤🖤 so moody I love it 😎 Songs in the Key of X has some top eclectic tunes for sure 👽

  4. To me this song is a short bio of my late wife, Mary….beautiful, a tall, pale dark brunette, shy and painfully quiet, told me once as a waitress a guy tipped her in penny's – an orphan who loved people, and received a lot abuse in return, the world dimmed the day she died.

  5. I'm coming back to this song after a long time, and this is the first comment I read. Amazing! The CD was called "Songs To The Tune of X" or something like that. I was a huge X-Files fan as a kid. This brings back so many memories!
