I think the most freaky thing is encountering 3 men all of sudden wearing the exact same shirt, blue and yellow checkered shirts, and then when turning to get the hell out of there, 2 other men block the path, again wearing the same shirts, this time red and black checkered!!

I absolutely believe their are people/entities living below the surface of the earth. As a kid, I had weird dreams about it. People were greeting me and there were cities in white, like huge cities, beneath the ground.
I always thought they came out of the ATLANTIC ocean.

Sounds like they were talking about the Hollow Earth before the Monsterverse made Hollow Earth theory mainstream.
In 1956 there was actually a comic produced called The Mole People. I wonder if this had an influence on this story

So the narrative is changing? No longer being fed pap about 'extraterrestrials' we are encouraged to think about 'intra-terrestrials'. Probably closer to the truth about history of the earth and human interaction with 'the Other'. But this whole story is a fiction to illustrate a truth. (Those 'others' would have immediately known that the intruders were 'surface people'.)

Sometimes the truth is hard for people to believe. All over the world there have been catastrophic and cataclysmic events. I believe people went underground and survived. Some decided to stay. It’s not that far fetched.

I think there is a super technologically advanced species, a NHI, underwater and underground that has been manipulating humanity for millennia. Where they originated is any one’s guess. They could be an ancient dinosaur race that was forced underground due to cataclysm. This race may not be able to survive on the surface. They may also be the primary reason ET is unable to help humanity evolve and develop. They are holding humanity hostage and keep ET at bay by threatening our destruction.
I’m convinced my cat is a subsurface creature in disguise.

Such a short story and they still managed to mess it up with inconsistencies. It has some structure so I guess the author knows how to write propper stories
What do you mean they, they weren't there that long? He said that they were picked up by Morlocks a few hundred miles away from their location at that moment, and then they would have to travel same distance with same transport back to the exit, and they had to walk so long that they thought they would never come out. That sounds like a really long trip.

Up to medieval time the surface earth people were still in contact with the inner earth people. It was very normal. They have been trading with them. But it was the church that ordered to close down all the entrances to Inner Earth. At least in Europe here, especially for Austria it is proven. They were not evil but benevolent. But some of them didn't look like us.
Those karts sound more like they use super conductors not anti gravity, because he said it had magnets on the back, it was made of a copper like metal and there was a dark track in the center of the tunnel which the kart followed.
They let them go only to tell them if they returned then they will have to stay or be executed- doesn’t work that way- they’d never let them leave with the knowledge of their location
