  1. With the first story, it does actually sound like altitude sickness psychosis to me. (Having experienced it myself.) But the Stanley is definitely haunted. I have some photos that I've taken there, that have floating orbs of light, and faint images of a woman who was not standing there when I took the picture.

Also, the Shining wasn't filmed there, but it was written there. There was however a scene from Dumb and Dumber filmed there.

  2. The Stanley is AMAZING just in the architecture and grounds. It's absolutely gorgeous. We did go on the tour and I was definitely expecting the traditional look of The Shining that we all know, but it inspired the book and KING'S version of the shining was filmed there with NotJackNicholsen
Btw Love the podcast and the variety of guests but like to hear laurens take. She always says something unexpected but valid

  3. 9:57 Some of it does sound like altitude sickness. Every time I've had a tourist come through the springs on vacay, from sea level especially, id practically force them to drink water. Your brain is getting less oxygen this high up, and your heart does have to work harder. Wouldnt be surperised if OP's heart issues were exacerbated. it's not uncommon to get disoriented, feel faint (where the white or dark spots could start appearing), nauseous, sudden weakness, all sorts of things. Its usually when people go to the parks, or think they can go on a hike and didn't give their body a few day buffer to acclimate. If you're a tourist and start feeling any of these DRINK SOME DAMN WATER with pedia light or something with electrolytes.

  4. one time when i was like 9 i got water at night and i thought someone/something was following and i turn around to see a shadow like figure run into the wall like right behind me

  5. Similar to Morgan’s dream story, my mom died when I was 17. And for about a week after I would have these nightmareish dreams where she would be with me, everybody in the dream knew that she wasn’t supposed to be there, but it’s like she was just a ghost hanging around in silence. Her death was related to her alcoholism, and in the dream she would just take a drink of alcohol and either disappear or collapse on the ground, looking like how my brother and I found her.

After a week of these dreams, I had another dream where I was with her and my brother and we were doing our grocery shopping and bagging our groceries at the little counter thing. Things were normal until I kind of came back into focus and she was looking at me. this was the convo
Her: everything is going to be okay
    Me: huh?
Her: everything is going to be okay, Bec

And then I woke up feeling lighter. The nightmares stopped. I haven’t had a dream like that since, I’m not sure if she has visited me after that, but I don’t really dream about her anymore, and it’s been 5.5 years. But I did dream of her the night before last and woke up with the sensation that she was in my bed with me. That was new.

  6. you can rule out DID, not multi personality disorder. unfortunately you guys are perpetuating a lot of myths and misconceptions about the disorder. i’d suggest fact checking before you spread bs.

  7. I'm a little late to join this podcast (by a few years, but it was recommended to me, and I'm now hooked! Anyway… I just listened to this episode, and on one of the last stories you were telling, Alejandra wanted to hear a "helpful ghost story." Here's mine: my grandma grew up in a house in southern Indiana, and the previous owner was an older man named Mr. Hunley, who passed away there due to old age, I believe. My grandma always talked about how friendly Mr. Hunley was, and how they always joked around with him, just like Casper in the movie. Well, one evening, my grandma's youngest sister, who was no older than 7 at the time, and also the baby of the family, went upstairs to go to bed while the other 4 siblings and the parents were hanging out somewhere around the house (sorry, I don't remember where, exactly). She fell asleep with an electric blanket on, and somehow, the plug in the electrical outlet caught fire. She was fast asleep, and didn't know anything was wrong until she was woken up by Mr. Hunley, and went downstairs and outside to safety. I don't know where my grandma and her other siblings/parents were when the fire happened, but they were all safe too. My grandma says it was such a scary event, that they don't think their youngest sister would have made it out alive if Mr. Hunley hadn't have woken her up. The house actually didn't burn down that night, and someone else lives there now, but I'm not sure if the current residents are visited by Mr. Hunley or not.

  8. On a prior show you had also talked about Ouija boards and whether or not they work. My friends and I made a homemade board in high school and it worked way too well. It would spell everything backwards so we would have to write down everything as it spelled it and translate it afterwards. More than once it started doing figure 8's on the board so fast, none of us were touching the eye anymore and it kept doing figure 8's. Another time a candle in the room exploded sending glass and wax flying through the air. The things it said started coming true as if it was predicting future events. Lots of scary things started happening and it got to a point where I had to sleep with the lights out at night, we were afraid to get rid of it. I was so greatful when my mom finally got rid of it for us. I will never touch a ouija board ever again.

  9. as someone with a fainting disorder, different causes can make the fainting spell feel different. for me, every cause makes me feel different and I can tell why I'm fainting based on the feeling. fainting can also cause hallucinations, which may not happen every time.

  10. I know this vid is older and theres a popular comment thread discussing DID already here, but i wanted to point out how psychological disorders are always brought up as a "plauaible deniability" excuse with paranormal stuff, and how that really colors popular perception of the disorders. Talking about people who experience DID and/or psychosis in the way yall did here only furthers common misconceptions. And as others have already pointed out, people experiencing DID and/or psychosis are far more likely to be a victim of violence as opposed to the perpetrator.

I dont have DID but a buddy of mine does. They are intelligent and steadily employed and live alone. All their alters are definitely distinct people/personalities, but theyre all chill. They frequently have alters coming in and out of headspace (many times throughout the day), and my dog has never seemed to notice or care about the switches in demeanor/mannerisms.
