So, I have a stupid question, and I'm a bit sorry that it isn't more related to this topic, but if the Skaven are a secret, how do we explain what amounts to a "typical" EoM v Skaven field battle, like a game of Fantasy/OW depicts? These videos often like to remind us that the Imperium are simply morons, while the Empire is great, but if the Guard witnessed the Grey Knights, they sre probably getting liquidated. Even if a whole planet's population needs to be axed, it happens, because to the whole Imperium, even most worlds are little more than "just a house", so they can afford it. The Empire probably can't similarly afford to wipe out its victorious men, after they fought a Skaven swarm, but now that's a whole military force that knows…and people like to talk. Survivors will want to share, if only to help themselves rationalize what they experienced, and you can't send a Witch Hunter, or Shadow Wizard, after each of them, so how does the Empire fight Skaven, and yet still keep the secret that there ARE Skaven? Does our Prince and Emperor have to thank them for their valiant service, but then still administer the final sanction? Are they just well enough trained Empire State troops that they receive the order to suppress the information, and they actually obey? Are ACTUAL battles like 2000pt Skaven v 2000 Your Faction really rare, excluding playing at your local store?
